Condition of Awards
Each student is responsible for fulfilling the conditions of awards before any aid can be credited to a student's account. For example, the student must
- Be enrolled at Frostburg State University
- Be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Complete the Financial Aid Verification Process (if selected)
- Complete all paperwork or online processes required for each type of financial aid award.
Completion of the Financial Aid Verification Process
In certain cases, students will need to submit additional documentation to the Financial Aid Office before they can receive a financial aid package or have aid disbursed towards the FSU bill. There are a variety of documents that may be required to complete verification, which includes, but is not limited to, verification worksheets, taxes, W-2’s, non-filing tax letters, high school or college transcripts, naturalization papers, birth certificates, death certificates, court documents, military service records, etc. All students who are selected for the verification process by the federal processor will be notified by the Office of Financial Aid via email and the requirements will be displayed on the PAWS "To-Do List." The Student Aid Report that generates upon completion of the FAFSA will also show if a student was selected for verification. If you were selected, both students and/or parents/contributors may need to submit documentation to the FSU Financial Aid Office.
We are currently in the process of converting our verification documents to submittable electronic forms. On the Financial Aid Documents list some forms will lead directly to submittable Softdocs in (Etrieve). Other documents that are currently under development will need printed, completed, and returned to the FSU Financial Aid Office directly.
If the amount or type of aid changes after the verification process is complete, you will receive a Revised Financial Aid Notification via your FSU email.
Completion of Required Paperwork or Online Processes
A student may be required to complete one or more online processes before a financial aid offer is officially considered accepted. Examples of such processes include the completion of a Master Promissory Note (MPN) for each loan offered to a student or parent, and the completion of the online student entrance-counseling interview for first-time loan borrowers at Frostburg State University.
All instructions for completing the requirements and accepting each form of student financial aid are posted on our website or are sent to the student via email. It is very important that every student check their FSU email account regularly for important announcements and updates.
